Robert Herjavec's speaking fee falls within range: Over $75,000
One of North America’s most respected businessmen, Robert Herjavec is most recognized for his role as a dragon on Canada’s Dragon’s Den and a shark on the U.S. Shark Tank. Off screen he is the founder and CEO of the Herjavec Group, one of the largest and most profitable information technology companies in Canada.
At age 8 Robert and his family arrived in Canada from communist Yugoslavia with a single suitcase and $20. His father worked in a factory sweeping floors and Robert was often bullied in school for his accent and unstylish clothing. The circumstances motivated him to be more than “good enough;” he wanted to be the best at something so that he could provide his family a better life.
While working multiple jobs, he started his first company, an integrator of Internet security software, BRAK systems in his basement. Ten years later he sold it to AT & T Canada, making him a millionaire. After taking a three-year break to be a stay-at-home dad, he returned to the business world with the creation of Herjavec Group, one of the globe’s leading cyber security companies.
As a speaker and TV personality, Robert looks to inspire people not to settle for mediocre but rather find their talent, be great at it, and apply it to the best of their ability.
Robert Herjavec is one of North America’s most recognizable business leaders. Born in Eastern Europe, he arrived to North America on a boat with his parents after escaping Communism in the former Yugoslavia. From delivering newspapers, and waiting tables, to launching a computer company from his basement, his drive to achieve has led him to the fulfillment of a better life for himself and his family.
A dynamic entrepreneur, Robert has built and sold several IT companies to major players such as AT&T. In 2003 Robert founded Herjavec Group, and it quickly became one of North America’s fastest growing technology companies, scaling from $400K in annual sales revenue to a run rate of $150 million. Today, Herjavec Group is recognized as a global leader in information security specializing in managed security services, compliance, incident response and remediation efforts for enterprise level organizations.
His inspiring books, Driven and The Will to Win, were simultaneously Top 10 Bestsellers that earned him the title of “Best Selling Author”. Robert’s motivational business advice has received millions of impressions through TV, print, radio and digital media. He shares his expertise with other entrepreneurs each week as a leading Shark on ABC’s Emmy Award-winning hit Shark Tank and has shown his dancing prowess on the popular show, Dancing with the Stars.
For the past four years, Robert has competed as Ferrari #007 for Herjavec Group Racing in the Ferrari Challenge North America Series, achieving multiple podiums and winning Rookie of The Year in 2011. To Robert, running a business is a lot like one of his greatest passions, racing cars. He believes, “You have to stay laser-focused when driving a car over 200 miles an hour, and the same approach is required when growing a business in today’s world of rapidly changing technology.”
Multi-millionaire Robert Herjavec reveals that there is no short cut to success. Noting that people constantly ask him how he went from rags to riches, he points to perseverance and hard work. “There is no magic,” he claims. “It’s just a lot of little things you got to day every day. Success is all those boring little things you have to do everyday to move the ball forward.”
Robert Herjavec surveys the changes he’s seen in the Internet over his three decade long career working with computers and security. He explains why companies will ultimately need to continue making investments into new cyber securities even when they say they don’t have the budget. “The challenge with corporations and cyber crime is that they just say ‘no’ to everything,” he gives the example of companies prohibiting activities like accessing Facebook at work. “But eventually it’s got to turn around where you can’t say ‘no.’ Everything is going to move online.”
To demonstrate how mindsets shift with the times recalls his experience of selling firewalls to companies in the 1990s. When he’d call companies to offer them the product, several representatives would tell him that their companies did not have Internet access. Robert would reply, “Oh, but when you get Internet access you’re going to want this.” Often the representatives responded, “We’re never going to allow Internet access at our company.”
Robert Herjavec, dynamic entrepreneur and Shark, customizes each speech to fit the objectives and vision of the client. His sense of humor, energy and interaction with the audience will engage and inspire anyone willing to keep up with the pace of change.
Robert leverages his life and business experiences as he navigates his presentation, giving audiences practical and tangible tools they can incorporate into their own professional and personal aspirations.
