Geopolitical expert John Sitilides shares the story of his roots in an effort to remind us why the U.S.'s international presence and cooperation is so vital to the outside world as well as our own quality of life. The descendent of Greek/Turkish immigrants expelled from their home after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, Sitilides relates how his family scraped together enough money to put his father on a ship headed to America, where he worked two to three jobs to build a life unattainable in a country that had been ravaged by three wars.
Peace is not the norm in human history, Sitilides claims, but because of the treaties and trust the U.S. maintained with its allies after the second world war, we were able to establish an unprecedented stable economy that benefited America and its allies, including small countries like Greece which, by the end of World War II, had been devastated. "When there is calamity anywhere in the world," he states, "even our most persistent critics know that it is America that will be called upon to help resolve the crisis, to deal with the emergency, and to deliver assistance and relief to people in all corners of the globe."
For the sake of our security both abroad and at home, he urges us not to give in to the temptation of Nativism, but to continue working with our international partners to protect peace globally.
Geopolitical strategist, John Sitilides navigates businesses, investors, and government leaders through economic and political trends in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East so they can reduce risks and form optimum strategies. “John Sitilides gave our keynote talk on geopolitical risks at the GAIM Ops Cayman event, a 500+ person event for COO/CCO/CFOs in the alternative investment industry. I’ve been working in conferences for five years and I can honestly say it was one of the best talks I’ve seen. John provided fascinating insights on geo-political issues including Russia, China, the Middle East, North Korea and Europe – using simple techniques like turning maps on their side to really bring a new perspective to understanding the issues and appreciating their significance on a whole new level. Mixed with cutting edge and up-to-date knowledge of the topics and latest political developments, and the fact John is an excellent and engaging speaker, made for a fascinating presentation. Our audience loved it. The room was packed and it’s been rated as a favorite session by many of the attendees. John is top of my list for any geopolitical analysis in the future.”
