He then adds that no, everything is not “fine,” and mentions some less optimistic statistics about real estate, fiscal stimulus policies, debt ceilings and federal spending. He states that the “biggest short term risk” is politics. He goes on to discuss reforms that need to be made by the federal government to help the U.S. economy slowly recover over the next few decades.
In his programs, Dr. Thornberg presents a comprehensive forecast for the U.S. economy over the near and long-term future and discusses the state of the current economic recovery. Chris was speaking to a packed room of about 100 people for some govt agency in San Diego. He obviously know his subject and spits it out like from a machine gun, but as a math teacher from Jr Hi thru Jr Clg for 40 years, I suggest that rather than snow us with 1000 facts, he might have done better by focusing on 2 dozen and making thoughtful conclusions therefrom, followed by dispersal of a single sheet of practical steps that citizens could take to improve each of the 24 issues. If, as he seemed to suggest, recalling Gov Newsom is a 1st step, then Chris has 23 other items to propose. One per county would allow only for focus on a few of the counties which might be receptive to or most likely to moving in that direction. I rate this talk with 4 of 10 stars.
