The Sup Crossing was a truly unparalleled global feat, while raising money and awareness for conservation and to help disadvantaged children in Africa, through the Lunchbox Fund and Operation Smile.

This is the story of how a skinny little kid from Kenilworth in Cape Town managed to travel halfway around the world without sponsorship, and then outwit, outsmart and outperform the world’s best-paid professional athletes on a day that changed his life, and the sport of big-wave surfing, forever …
Big-wave surfer Chris Bertish was the first South African to brave the monster waves of Mavericks, winning the Mavericks Big Wave Invitational surfing event in the biggest and heaviest waves ever recorded in the history of the sport. That same year, he finished third on the Big Wave World Tour, despite only surfing three of the five events.
Chris’s mantra is Dream it, See it, Believe it, Achieve it. With his infectious enthusiasm, Chris tells how he pulled off death-defying antics, time and again, overcame overwhelming obstacles and maneuvered around the many random twists of fate to achieve his goals and fulfill his dreams.

hat would you put on the line for what you believe in? For Chris Bertish, the answer is everything. ALL IN!
In 2017 Chris became the first person ever to stand-up paddleboard across any ocean. Defying all odds, he paddled 7500 kilometers solo, unassisted and unsupported, for 93 days across the Atlantic Ocean, from Morocco, Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean.
During three months at sea he was targeted by a great white shark, towed by a giant sea squid, capsized multiple times and surfed down 10-meter waves as challenging as anything he had faced in any Mavericks Big Wave Surfing Championships.
Too many times he found himself hanging on the edge of his modified SUP for dear life. He also become one with the elements, and ultimately succeeded in doing something everyone said was simply impossible.
This is the story of his incredible journey.
