Alexander Tsiaras's speaking fee starts in range: $25,000 to $30,000
Alexander Tsiaras has been bringing science to life for years through his artistic genius. Known as “The Digital Leonardo DaVinci,” his images are famous worldwide having graced the covers of LIFE, Time, and other major publications multiple times.
Drawing from his background as a photojournalist, Mr. Tsiaras designed software capable of scanning and recording the human body at every stage of life down to the tiniest cell. This along with his own special lenses has made it possible to show parts of the body as never seen before. One of his most famous works, which he developed as part of his job as Chief of Scientific Visualization with the Yale University Department of Medicine, is the video compilation “From Conception to Birth,” a breathtaking series of images detailing actual development of a baby over the entire gestation period.
Due to his unique talent and multiple publications, Mr. Tsiaras is a much sought-after speaker and TED veteran. He currently serves as the CEO and Editor-in-Chief of TheVisualMD.com, a massive collection of his anatomical scans available to the public with accompanying text so that anyone can better understand the human body and the impact an unhealthy lifestyle has.
Alexander Tsiaras is the Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of TheVisualMD.com. Mr. Tsiaras grew TheVisualMD.com out of his already well-established journalism enterprise.
His self-styled journalistic career began in 1972 when, at the age of 19, he co-authored his first book, Death Rituals of Rural Greece (Princeton University Press). He went on to write Conception to Birth, Architecture and Design of Man and Woman, and the InVision Guides to Healthy Heart, Sexual Health, and Life Blood.
He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the World Press Award, Webby, and the prestigious Satava Award for his work in the improvement of medicine through advanced technology. His work has been featured on the covers of Time, The New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, LIFE, and the London Sunday Times Magazine.
Along with being an artist and journalist, Tsiaras taught himself mathematics and physics and developed his own lenses, including one for a microscope that was used to photograph the first images of human eggs in an in vitro fertilization program. Another lens was used for an endoscope that can photograph the fetus from outside the amniotic sack. The images resulting from this became cover stories for LIFE Magazine.
In 1989 Mr. Tsiaras realized the potential of computer-generated imaging and learned UNIX, then C and C++ to write his own programs, transferring his knowledge of light moving through physical space to light moving through tissue in virtual space.
He was offered an adjunct professorship at both Brown and Yale University Medical schools. Working with Yale, he received funding from NASA to write algorithms for virtual surgery, so that astronauts could be operated on in robotics pods during deep space flights.
Tsiaras has lectured and keynoted many conferences including the National Library of Medicine (NLM/NIH) Scientific Visualization Conference, TED, TEDMED, INK Conference (in association with TED), the Google Health Conference “ThinkHealth,” and Medicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR). He has lectured with Stephen Hawking at the MIT Media Lab.
Mr. Tsiaras’ latest works are: Conception to Birth and TheVisualMD Wellness Program, A Scientific Approach to Losing Weight, Preventing Illness and Reversing Chronic Diseases eBooks. He has recently built an advanced Personal Health Record, titled “MyWellnessStory” that will empower people to plan, optimize and measure their pathways to health and a lifetime of well-being.
Alexander Tsiaras reveals that while most of his and his team’s job involve data gathering, at the end of the day, the narrative is the single most important part of what they do. “It’s story that gives a soul to the data,” he remarks about the thousands of scans and images he and his colleagues collect and produce.
He showcases some of his work regarding kidney disease, framed around a real-life patient, an elderly farmer who wants to live longer to see his grandchildren grow older. Explaining how their work looks at the practical causes and ways to prevent the disease as well, Mr. Tsiaras notes, “A lot of people say to us are you doing this for the professional community or are you doing this for the consumer? The beauty of visualization is that it speaks to everyone.”
Much like his acclaimed art, Alexander Tsiaras is a master storyteller. He blends scientific data and his original cutting edge technology to give presentations that truly speak to everyone on the topics of medicine, health, and lifestyles. Our entire lives we hear about things we shouldn’t do because they’re “bad for our health,” but Mr. Tsiaras’s extraordinary images framed in smart narratives transcend those words from cliché advice to an effective reality.
Tsiaras has lectured and keynoted at many influential conferences including: the Verizon’s Healthcare Conference, NorthWestern Mutual, CHPA.org Healthcare Conference, National Library of Medicine (NLM/NIH) Scientific Visualization Conference, TED, TEDMED, Ink Conference (in association with TED), Google Health Conference “ThinkHealth”, Business Innovation Factory (BIF2, BIF4 and BIF9), Medicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR) and has lectured with Stephen Hawking at the MIT Media Lab.
Speaking topics include: Wellness, Preventing and Reversing Chronic Diseases, Future of Medical Health Records, Imaging the Body, Alzheimer’s, Depression, Diabetes, Obesity, Sexual Health, Cardiovascular Health, Exercise and Nutrition, Stress, and Reverse Aging, TheVisualMD Wellness Plan: A Scientific Approach to Losing Weight, Preventing Illness, and Reversing Chronic Diseases.
You're Wellness Story
In his riveting presentations, Tsiaras shares images and videos from his eBook TheVisualMD Wellness Program: A Scientific Approach to Losing Weight, Preventing Illness, and Reversing Chronic Diseases. Tsiaras illuminates the language of the human body through never-before-seen scientific images of the body’s hidden inner conversation. You'll see, in actual scanned human data, how poor lifestyle choices affect both people’s genetic predispositions and their basic biological functions. The results of these choices? Obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, all forms of cancer, and many other disorders.
While the human body is almost infinitely complex, Tsiaras conveys his knowledge in such an easily understood and compelling way that listeners feel personally empowered to take back control of their bodies. Tsiaras’ message is reinforced by inspiring images and real-life tales of individuals whose bodies have returned to optimal health as biological balance is restored. Each of Tsiaras’ talks is a visually rich wellness story, centered on the achievable real-life wellness goals that a person must embrace to live to advanced age with quality of life firmly intact.
Preventing and Reversing Disease
Cardiovascular health is critical to being well, when your cardiovascular system is compromised; the human body is prey to a cascade of other disease conditions. In this program Tsiaras immerses the audience in the cardiovascular system through scans from real human data, showing the development of the cardiovascular system and heart from conception to adulthood. He allows the audience to marvel at its construct through inspiring videos of the cardiovascular system, and outlines direct and simple prevention methods for maintaining the health of your cardiovascular system. When one has ventured past the point of prevention, he offers a "How To" of healing that one can easily follow, providing tools that empower an individual back to health.
Preventing and Reversing Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 Diabetes is a current day pandemic, the number of people afflicted with this condition is on a sharp rise and sadly, many of the newly diagnosed are young children. It needs to be stressed that Type 2 Diabetes is a preventable condition. Tsiaras has spent years studying Type 2 Diabetes, and is constantly confounded by how, in this age when access to information about this disease is so readily available on the Internet, so many people with this condition have no real knowledge of the basic biology of their disease. When you do not understand the disease, it is extremely difficult to understand that there is, in fact, an achievable path back to a healthier condition.
