Pranav Mistry's speaking fee falls within range: $50,000 to $75,000
An engineer of celebrity status, Pranav Mistry won international acclaim for his introduction of SixthSense, wearable technology that allows the user to interact with the world in groundbreaking ways. The young innovator and inventor currently serves as the Global Vice President of Research at Samsung in addition to heading their Think Tank Team.
Mistry developed SixthSense during his time as a doctoral student at MIT’s Media Lab. After a famous demo of his technology on the TED stage, he and his team open-sourced the code so that anyone can create their own device and contribute apps.
Since his debut, Mistry has continued to make numerous contributions to virtual reality, wearable technology, and robotics. Though he is always involved in numerous projects, some of his most noteworthy work to date includes SPARSH, an interactive technology that allows you to copy and paste information between devices using simple hand gestures; Mouseless, which allows you to complete the same functions of a mouse using only your hand to dictate instructions to your computer; and BlinkBlot, a wearable glass system that lets users control robots via their blinks and gaze.
Pranav Mistry is one of the inventors of SixthSense. He was a research assistant and a PhD candidate at MIT Media Lab. Before joining MIT he worked as a UX Researcher with Microsoft.
Among some of his previous work, Mistry has invented Mouseless, an invisible computer mouse; intelligent sticky notes that can be searched, located, and can send reminders and messages; a pen that can draw in 3D; and a public map that can act as Google of physical world. His research interests include ubiquitous computing, gestural and tangible interaction, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, machine vision, collective intelligence, and robotics.
SixthSense was awarded the 2009 Invention Award by Popular Science. Mistry was also named to the MIT Technology Review TR35 as one of the top 35 innovators in the world under the age of 35.In 2010, he was named to Creativity Magazine′s Creativity 50. Mistry has been called “one of ten best inventors in the world right now” by Chris Anderson. He was listed as one of the 15 Asian Scientists to Watch by Asian Scientist Magazine in May 2011.
Pranav Mistry received a master′s in media arts and sciences from MIT and a Master of Design from IIT Bombay. He has bachelor′s degrees in computer science and engineering.
Engineer Pranav Mistry demonstrates breakthrough cellphone technology that gives users a 360° view. A strong believer that technology’s purpose is to bring people closer together, he introduces Samsung’s Gear 360, a camera which pairs with the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge so that friends and family can share truly immersive experiences from thousands of miles away.
“The real world is not in one direction,” Mistry points out, referring to the typical experience we get from live mobile video. “It’s everywhere all around us.” He insists that this technology will do more than show – it will actually allow us to transfer virtually from one setting to another. On a personal note, Mistry is looking forward to his next hike in the California redwood forests, because this technology will allow his family to “join him.” “My parents are going to love this,” he confesses.
Pranav Mistry puts his passion for integrating digital technology with our real-world interactions front and center. The young scientist places audiences in the crossroads of innovation as he discusses and showcases inventions that are redefining the way we interact with machines. Mistry is the perfect choice for addressing the latest breakthroughs in wearable technology, gestural computing, and augmented reality in addition to experiments that have failed yet may serve as the basis for “the Next Medium.”
