A pioneer in the mobile industry since the 2000s, Inma was part of the core data team that created mobile personalization worldwide. One of her key achievements was the creation of the personalization engine, “Sesami”, the first mobile personalization system to perform tasks in real-time. Since then, she has been behind the creation and launch of key technological innovations, both at startups and at large corporates world-wide. In 2010 she was appointed by the British government to serve as a spoke person on technology development and entrepreneurship at the UK Trade & Industry Catalyst Program.
Inma is an Advisor to the EU Technology Commission. Her latest research focuses on human behavior modeling, detecting rogue behavior, and the effect those anomalies have on mindsets and attitudes.
Described by FORTUNE and TIME as one of Europe’s top talents in Human Factors and Social Engagement through technology. She was voted “Best Contributor to the Formation of Digital Media Strategy” at the 2001 European Leadership Forum, a Fortune 500 CEO and EU Governors summit. In 2005, Red Herring ranked her amongst the top 40 most influential women in technology, naming her the “free-radical” for her work always at the forefront of innovation. FastCompany has called her a “firestarter”.
After holding executive positions at Goldman Sachs and Cable & Wireless, Inma left the corporate world to found in 2000 one of the first UK entrepreneurial ventures of the mobile era, Escape Velocity. It became one of the first providers of personalisation software to international mobile operators and handsets manufacturers and was described by Lehman Brothers as one of Europe’s top 20 companies to follow. Inma then founded Visual Radio in Finland, which was later sold to Nokia and whose software can today be found in every multimedia handset of the Finnish mobile giant.
From 2002-2004 she was a Director of Sense Worldwide, a company which helps clients understand the future, so that they are better equipped to innovate and develop the products and services that customers will expect. In this role she advised companies such as the BBC, Nokia, Hewlett Packard, SC Johnson, Channel 4, and Unilever on innovation, branding and product development.
In 2010 she became Partner at Opus Corporate Finance LLP in London. Inma is an engaged participant in Europe’s technology and media sector, with advisory positions at Nokia, Blyk (Mobile MVNO), the European Union Technology Commission, the United Kingdom Trade & Industry China Mission and Sport England, the government innovation fund for sport, media and culture. She is also a Catalyst UK Ambassador, a UKTI global programme where business leaders champion the UK as the world′s best international business partner. In 2006 Inma founded Stradbroke Advisors, a corporate advisory and fund-raising agency focused on the Technology Media and Internet sectors.
In 2005 she was awarded fellowship of the City of London’s Information Technology Company, where she became Freeman (2007) and Liveryman (2008). She is the Chair of the Digital Media Panel, a government advisory think-tank at the ITC. She was a Fullbright scholar in 1988 and holds a Ph Doctorate in American Literature by the University of Valencia, Spain.
She is a regular speaker at European technology conferences, sharing her experiences in digital and mobile technology, innovation, and the rise of social media and what they mean for companies, employees and customers.
