TV personality and hardworking carpenter, Ty Pennington catapulted the home renovation industry into expansion, showcasing daring and creative works on Trading Spaces and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. As he became a heavyweight in the entertainment industry, Pennington used his celebrity status to focus on projects that brought communities together and helped those in need.

The long-time host of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Pennington spent 10 years changing the lives of deserving home owners through his artistic eye, skilled dexterity, and natural talent for making others feel comfortable. After helping restore and rebuild over 200 homes during 9 seasons, he secured a contract for the limited series, Ty’s Great British Adventure, in which he collaborated with British municipalities to revitalize parts of their towns such as run-down parks and pools. Off camera, he’s aided in projects like mortgage lender, Guaranteed Rate’s Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge, in which he supported a North Carolina community’s effort to convert an old prison into a neighborhood soup kitchen and homeless shelter.

Pennington claims it took him over two decades to figure out how to channel his abilities into the career he wanted. Along the way he worked in landscaping, construction, and modeling, which led him to reside in Japan, Thailand, Italy, Canada, and Germany.

Pennington holds an Honorary PhD from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He can be seen on TLC’s Trading Spaces reboot which has been driven by a loyal and vocal fan base.

  Television
  The instantly recognizable sound of Ty Pennington’s “Good Morning!” became an unmistakable sign of hope for families during his time with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. That show transformed the lives of thousands, and inspired millions more around the world. Under Ty’s leadership, EM:HE was consistently rated among the top 20 of all television programs. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Reality Program, and two People’s Choice Awards.

  On the international market, Inside the Box with Ty Pennington aired on Canada’s W Network in 2010. And as part of his ongoing relationship with Great Britain’s UKTV Home, his series Homes for the Brave, and the follow up, Ty’s Great British Adventure aired with him serving as executive producer. Their focus on improving the homes and lives of soldiers from the British Army led to seasons 1 and 2 becoming UKTV Home’s two highest rated television series ever.

  Design Work
  Additional projects have included Ty Pennington Impressions with WestminsterFabrics, a partnership with industry leader Howard Miller, and the Ty Pennington Style line for Sears. His designs offered fun and stylish home products at affordable prices. He also designed a line of flooring for Lumber Liquidators.

  Author
  Pennington’s book, Good Design Can Change Your Life (Simon & Schuster) is an intimate look at Ty’s design inspirations with décor advice and tips. It followed up from his New York Times best seller Ty’s Tricks (Hyperion). This book is part reference, and part behind-the-scenes in Ty’s own home, which he completely remodeled himself.

  Recognized as a leader in the field of volunteerism, Ty has also served as ambassador for the Sears American Dream campaign.
