Meagan Johnson's speaking fee falls within range: $5,000 to $10,000
Turning a problem into a passion-driven career, Meagan Johnson has become the go-to generational expert. Her research keeps pace with today’s fluctuating workplace dynamic as she teaches clients how to communicate successfully with individual generations so that they can achieve financial success, personal growth and enriched company morale.
During the 1990s, while working for companies like Quaker Oats, Kraft Foods, and Xerox, Meagan often heard negative comments about Gen Xers. These comments included terms like “slackers,” “gold collar workers”, and even “the Beavis and Butthead generation.” Being a Gen Xer herself, Meagan knew those terms were unfair, untrue, and hurtful so she began researching small and large businesses to debunk generational myths and discover the most effective ways to solve clashes. That research gave birth to thousands of generational presentations as well as her best selling book Generations Inc., From Boomers To Linksters: Managing the Friction Between Generations at Work.
Now Meagan uses her comical brilliance and unique understanding of four major age groups to help companies make the most of this diversity while getting generations to live and work together without name-calling and bloodshed. Since launching her speaking career in 1998, she has constantly been evolving and updating her message and techniques so they are always on-the-spot relevant. Her lengthy list of clients include: Harley-Davidson Motor CO, Dairy Queen, American Academy of Nursing, and Visit Florida.
Being a Gen Xer herself, she felt these comments were unfounded. She was further frustrated by the blinders her own managers seemed to have. “There was this perception of only one way to get ahead and be successful at work. The career path my managers expected me to take was very traditional. They seemed to be unable to look at a different way of training and career management that was relevant to younger employees.”
Meagan has continued her research into the complexities of the younger workforce.
Meagan is an active member of NSA, National Speakers Association. In 2003, she received her CSP, Certified Speaking Professional designation. Currently, only ten percent of professional speakers hold this designation. As a Gen Xer Meagan was extremely proud to be one of the youngest recipients of the CSP designation.
Her clients include: Harley-Davidson Motor CO, Dairy Queen, Kindred Hospital, American Academy of Nursing, Produce Marketing Association, American Express, National School Public Relations Association, Visit Florida, Loreal, National Apartment Association, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, City of Phoenix, Pepsi CO, Coldwell Banker, Cadillac, Michigan Dental Association, National Cosmetology Association, and Bubba Gump Shrimp
Imagine…
How do you zap the invisible gap and manage your multi-generational workforce? Never before have there been four different generations in the workforce…at the same time.
In 1998 Meagan Johnson was already an experienced professional speaker and trainer, delivering seminars across North America. A Gen-Xer herself, Meagan began to hear a consistent complaints among her clients about the wide GAP between the Baby-Boomer/Traditional Generation bosses, and the Generation-X and New Millennium Generation employees coming into the workforce.
Meagan began researching best practices of America′s top corporations; the solution was not a new form of business structure but good old-fashioned communication skills, conflict resolution-negotiation methods, and stress-management techniques which Meagan had been perfecting for years! Meagan Johnson delivers these skills to audiences using her experience in adult learning, personal discovery, and most all, hilarious stories that keep the audience laughing and anchor the learning to excitement and fun.
A captivating keynote speaker and a get-results seminar leader, Meagan Johnson′s interactive group exercises are a fun and valuable component of Zap The Gap sessions.
Meagan Johnson highlights different attitudes and practices among generations in a compilation of her speeches. Playing off the audience, she presents a list of common complaints about young workers, such as their disloyalty and “what’s in it for me?” mindset.
After the audience has met her points with agreement, she reveals a twist. “The biggest difference between your list and this list is you created your list based on the young people you live with, you work with, you interact with today,” she states. However, the list Meagan has presented comes from a 1968 edition of Life magazine, demonstrating that many of our age-related work conflicts are not unprecedented, and suggest that older generations might have more in common with their younger counterparts than they realize.
Unwilling to accept standard, by-the-book generalizations, Meagan Johnson tackles generational challenges, myths, and misunderstandings head on. She demonstrates to audiences, through her own experience, in depth research and program customization, that all generations have differences and strengths that go beyond mere age and appearance.
Meagan’s programs are truly interactive as she spends more time in the audience than in front of it, integrating attendees’ unique stories and experiences into the theme. Combining her “delightfully obnoxious” humor with must-have insights on generational gaps, she gets audiences laughing at their own generation (and the other ones) while learning to flourish in the presence of others.
FACT: Nearly 80% of all junior and senior high school teens work part-time while going to school. Teens, because of their inexperience, are also more likely to have injuries or accidents in the workplace. Not understanding how to train an emerging workforce can be costly.
FACT: The ′New Millennium Generation′ is the first generation to grow up with a computer in their home. Almost 90% of 12-17 year olds use the Internet. They use the Internet as more than just a fact-finding instrument, they use it to communicate and to socialize. Are you using archaic, outdated tools to reach this generation?
"People learn best what they discover for themselves, not what is shoved at them," says Meagan. Her interactive group exercises are a fun and valuable component of "ZAP THE GAP!" sessions. Of course, this electrically charged presentation can be followed up with a nitty-gritty, hands-on, how-to break out session, too! Ask about the right combination for your group.
Here is why audience members love "ZAP THE GAP!":
