Ryan Estis shares how a cup of coffee got him out of a dark place thanks to a barista’s unusually friendly attitude. When he mistakenly assumed that her exceptional service was a business ploy to get customers to come back to Starbucks, she corrected him, saying, “No, Ryan, I want my customers to come back to see me.”

“Optimized employees are more likely to be helpful,” Estis reveals to the audience.
