Previous successes for Guber came as Chairman and CEO of Sony pictures, President of Colombia Pictures, Chairman and CEO of PolyGram and co-owner and co-chairman of Casablanca Record & Filmworks. He led Sony to a leading box office market share of 17% domestically and during his tenure the company achieved the highest four-year level of Academy Award nominations ever for a single company.

Guber led Sony Pictures as Chairman & CEO, Columbia Pictures as President, Polygram as Chairman & CEO and Casablanca Record & Filmworks as Co-Owner and Co-Chairman. A noted author, Guber co-wrote the best seller, Shootout, published by Penguin Putnam, which was released in hardcover and paperback.
