After more than 30 years of being in front of audiences, Leeza Gibbons is still at the top of her game. Perhaps best known for her 11-year-run on the popular nightly program Entertainment Tonight Leeza continues to be a beloved talk show host, social entrepreneur, and advocate for patients and caregivers. Her reputation and rare ability to bring both glamor and relatability to events have made her an in-demand speaker on the topics of Alzheimer’s, entertainment, and overcoming adversity.

Considered one of the “Queens of Daytime Talk”, Leeza hosted her own talk show on NBC, Leeza for seven years. As host of the Lifetime series What Should You Do? she sought to educate and empower viewers by examining different life threatening emergencies and possible courses of action. In 2013 she won a Daytime Emmy for her hosting of the PBS travel and leisure series My Generation. Recently, her leadership skills drew praise when she raised over $700,000 for charity and won the 2015 season of Celebrity Apprentice.

Due to her own family history, Leeza has become a public voice for Alzheimer’s research. She founded Leeza’s Place, a program now in 8 locations nationwide, which offers free services to family caregivers of loved ones suffering from any chronic disease. In 2007 she was appointed to the California state board in charge of overseeing stem-cell research.

Leeza’s recent book Take 2 offers guidelines on navigating the changes and unexpected detours in life.

Full Profile

The spectrum of Leeza Gibbons′ career in entertainment and news media combined with her stunning “hands on” advocacy for healthcare, patients and caregivers is diverse and impressive. Leeza′s on-camera hosting dominance in entertainment news and talk show arenas range from the most popular entertainment news show in history, Entertainment Tonight to TV news magazine Extra. For six years she was producer and host of the eponymous LEEZA – the Emmy award winning daytime show covering pop-culture, beauty, medical and social issues. Currently she hosts the PBS TV show My Generation and her direct response Sheer Cover beauty and mineral makeup infomercial show is in its 8th year with worldwide viewership in the tens of millions.

Leeza′s compassion, inspiration and commitment to her continual education in healthcare, as well as the education of others, is a special gift potentiated by her listening and communication skills honed as a mother, journalist and humanitarian. It was her family′s experience with Leeza′s mother and grandmother that inspired Leeza to create The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation (a 501c3 non-profit) and its signature program, Leeza′s Place. “After the two strongest women in my life became victims of the thief of memory called Alzheimer′s disease, I created what we wished we had…a place to get support, help and hope for our challenging health journey.”

Now there are 8 Leeza′s Place locations nationwide offering free services for family caregivers of loved ones with any chronic illness or disease. A recognized thought leader in the field, she wrote a book about her personal experience called Take Your Oxygen First: Caring for Yourself while Caring for Someone with Memory Loss, which was just named one of the best consumer health books in the marketplace from Library Journal, with additional kudos from Publishers Weekly.

Leeza′s journalistic ability and her personal experience found a natural outlet on the Lifetime Series, Health Corner, a weekly TV magazine show focusing on providing viewers with information on health, wellness and prevention as well as the latest discoveries and technologies in the health field. Her television career notably includes shows which reach out to viewers needs, such as the Lifetime series, What Should You Do? During the course of almost 100 episodes of this program, Leeza provided answers and empowered viewers with help and advice for dealing with life-threatening emergencies. Leeza also is the founder and creator of Sheer Inspiration Life Coaching, a web based business offering visitors one-on-one access to experts who can help them reclaim, reinvent or enhance their lives. Leeza also served as host and executive producer of Hollywood Confidential, which reached over 3.5 million listeners in the United States and Canada for over 15 years.

Her numerous guest appearances on shows such as Larry King Live, Good Morning America, Oprah, The Today Show, Donny Duestch and The View have all centered around her role as a social entrepreneur and her leadership and involvement in health issues which help foster social awareness and responsibility. Most recently she was named one of the “Ten who Make a Difference” by AARP being called the “Voice of the Caregiver”, and she has just been named the AARP Ambassador of Care.

Leeza has been involved with the Alzheimer′s Association for over a decade, as well as a two decade commitment to the celebrity panel of the American Red Cross. Leeza is also one of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger′s appointees to the Independent Citizen′s Oversight Committee, the governing board of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine.

Leeza Gibbons Keynote Speech

Leeza Gibbons addresses moving forward to find treatments and cures for Alzheimer’s. Relating how the disease took her mother and grandmother, the two strongest women in her life, she shares that while no family member of an Alzheimer’s patient can go backwards and start over, they can use their talents to “change the world” and create the ending they hope to see.

Part of this change involves having the confidence to make it happen. Leeza recalls as a child pretending that her Barbie dolls were international reporters and global CEOs. “My Barbies were keeping track on and reporting on the progress I was making changing the world…and I recognize I won’t live long enough for the therapy to help with that,” she jokes. “But I think it’s significant for our gathering today, because that’s what we’re all doing. We’re believing in ourselves to change the world.”

Take 2: Your Guide to Creating Happy Endings and New Beginnings

Life changes on the way to happily ever after, doesn’t it? I mean, sometimes you don’t even see it coming until one day you wake up and say, “Wait—this is not where I was supposed to end up!” It doesn’t matter if you got divorced, got fat, got fired, got sick, or just got stuck—you can always call for a “redo.” See, you’re the author of your own book and it’s time for a dramatic plot twist, so let’s get working on that. This is not the end of your story; this is where you learn about second acts, second chances, and new beginnings . . . In this book, Leeza shares with you what she's learned about calling for a second take in her own life. She’ll tell you how she's done it in a very public business and managed to come out the other side with her heart intact and her feet on the ground. She's assuming you and she might actually have a lot in common—well, unless you’re one of those astonishingly lucky women who married the right guy (the first time), got the job you wanted making the money you wanted while brilliantly parenting the children you imagined, and living it all in your size-2 body, perfectly happy and serene. Now, if you do happen to be one of those women, please put down this book and go write one of your own! As for the rest of us, she's always thought we reach our highest “goddess quotient” when we share our paths, especially the detours, bumps, and potholes that help us find who we really are. . . .
