    John Stossel: Profile
Host and commentator John Stossel joined Fox Business Network (FBN) in late 2009. He is the host of “Stossel,” a weekly program highlighting current consumer issues with a libertarian viewpoint. He also appears regularly during daytime and primetime hours on Fox News Channel (FNC) providing his signature analysis.

Prior to joining FBN, Stossel co-anchored ABC’s primetime newsmagazine show, 20/20, since 2003. While there he contributed in-depth special reports and recurring segments on a variety of consumer topics, from pop culture to government and business.

Through his consumer-oriented specials, Stossel has asked tough questions facing Americans today. His 20/20 Family Fix specials covered some of the most significant issues of recent years, including health care, government spending, addiction, tough parenting, and a deeper look inside children’s behavior. His specials on America’s health care situation, including Health Care Mystery and Sick in America delved into the rising cost of American health care and the debate on a private versus public option. John Stossel Goes to Washington revealed bipartisan government growth, while Hype uncovered catalysts of consumer patterns.

Stossel’s economic programs have been adapted into teaching kits by non-profit organization, In The Classroom Media, for use by high school teachers to help educate their students on economic freedom. These kits are now being used by over 25,000 teachers in over 35 percent of the schools in the United States, reaching over 4.2 million students per year.

His wide coverage of consumer issues has also gained him noteworthy praise. Stossel has received 19 Emmy Awards and been honored five times for excellence in consumer reporting by the National Press Club. Other honors include the George Polk Award for Outstanding Local Reporting and the George

Foster Peabody Award. The Dallas Morning News named him the "the most consistently thought- provoking TV reporter of our time" and the Orlando Sentinel said he "has the gift for entertaining while saying something profound."

Earlier in his career, Stossel served as consumer editor at Good Morning America and as a reporter at WCBS-TV in New York City. His first job in journalism was as a researcher for KGW-TV (NBC) in Portland, Ore. He is a graduate of Princeton University, with a B.A. in psychology.
