The founder and director of Johnson & Johnson's renowned Marketing Mastery Program, Drew Boyd is a widely recognized authority on persuasion, innovation and social media. The MMP is an internal “marketing university" which established a model followed by companies including General Electric, Procter & Gamble, Kraft and Merck. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Boyd worked in sales, marketing and strategic planning at United Airlines in managerial and leadership positions. He pioneered the concept of strategic partnerships between carriers that ultimately saw the formation of the Star Alliance.

Boyd enjoyed a distinguished career as a United States Air Force officer, serving as a crew commander in the Nuclear Missile Force and war-planning officer in the Strategic Air command. During his service he was awarded “Top Gun" for being the best Minuteman III Crew Commander in competition.

A graduate of the USAF Academy (Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Science and Operations Research), Boyd also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a member of the elite group of Claldini Method Certified Trainers as well as the Products Development and Management Association, the American Marketing Association, the National Speakers Association and is an affiliate of the Global Executive Learning Network. Drew Boyd: Innovation Workshop: Designing a Better Social Enterprise

Drew Boyd describes his innovative system, “Inside the Box," which identifies commonalities between inventions and inventors. He says, "For thousands and thousands of years, inventors and innovators have used patterns in their inventions, usually without realizing it, and in doing so, those patterns are now embedded into the products and services you see around you every day."

Explaining how this knowledge can be utilized for better innovation, he says, “what the SIT [Systematic Inventive Thinking] does is it helps you extract those patterns and apply it to those products and services that you want to innovate."

Showing how his system can not only help innovation but actually provoke it, he explains, “We have described a method that by design puts configurations in your head that at first don't seem to make any sense, that's how the method works, it creates these unusual configurations, that you then have to take them and figure out the benefits it delivers or the problem that it solves."
